The Blessings You Never Knew You Could Create: A Picture Book

“Vision:  It reaches beyond the thing that is, into the conception of what can be.  Imagination gives you the picture.  Vision gives you the impulse to make the picture.”

The Blessings of My Journey….

In today’s busy life it’s so easy to overlook all that is wonderful in life.

Somehow even the slightest negativity never fails to bring down my day. At the same time, I find myself never appreciating – really appreciating – even the most exciting news. I cannot recall a time this was not true, though, admittedly my brain has not had the opportunity to actively consume positivity the past year.

It’s a shame really – those countless times the pain has been so overwhelming, like a haze.

Looking back, it’s amazing to see how much life can change you…and how much power you have to create that change you desperately seek out. You see, a year ago I had just completed my first month of physical therapy and still was unable to walk on my own. It hasn’t even been a year since I could allow my foot to get wet after ten months of solid dryness.

About Journey to Optimism

I have a perfect dental record and a heart of gold. I volunteer my free time at every opportunity because I believe we can all make a small difference, and through the accumulation of numerous small differences, together, we can make a large difference in this world. I enjoy politics and public policy but not divisiveness, and I absolutely love writing.

You look awesome!!! So from the pics you look like the RSD is in remission!! I remember reading that you went through physical therapy, but was interested if you had to go through any other medical procedures???? Congrats on overcoming a long road and all the luck in your future endeavors.

    • Hi Joyce,

I ended up not having any additional procedures, though they did put me on a new drug that worked absolute wonders. Unfortunately, after I ran out of samples and went to fill the prescription I found out that there was a nationwide back order on the drug. Fortunately, it seemed to have pushed the condition mostly away. It still pops up every once and a while, especially when I forget to take a dose of the neurontin, but it’s much better. I mostly now just have the pain from still learning how to walk again. Who would have thought a year later I still wouldn’t have full range of motion? But I’m slowly learning how to live and not just lay around. It took a while to get myself to push through the pain, but I made it a point to go above and beyond in Jamaica when climbing the waterfall. Thank you for your continued support!
      – Crystal
